Self-expression in play

Play is the highest expression of human development in childhood, for it alone is the free expression of what is in a child’s soul.

  Friedrich Froebel

Psychotherapy with children is based upon the fact that play is the child’s natural medium of self expression. It is an opportunity which is given to the child to “play out” his or her feelings and problems.
